What Matt Painter Enjoys About His Job

"I love being a resource to people who desire to advance their education. It’s incredibly rewarding when things come full-circle and I see individuals I’ve met with over the previous months or years sitting in the classroom, positioning themselves for great things. I feel very blessed to play a small role in that process."

Auto-STAR-ography

"My family moved to Georgetown in 1991 and after completing college in 1999 I worked as a police officer for about 6 years. I had a great time doing that but needed a change. I started researching MBA program options around the same time the Round Rock Campus was built.  I completed the McCoy MBA program at Texas State in 2008 and had an amazing experience. After graduating I worked at Community Impact Newspaper and then at SocialMedia.org in Austin (both fantastic companies). In 2011 Dr. Sandy Pate, the previous MBA Program Director, left to join the faculty at Angelo State and the opportunity to succeed her presented itself. It’s very exciting to be a part of a growing, dynamic business school."

What do you teach?

"I am the instructor for MGT-5395, which is the Graduate Business Internship course. I am also the coordinator for all the MBA Information Sessions and GMAT Strategy Sessions."

Years of Experience

"I started as a Texas State faculty member in October 2011."

A Note from the Director

"Matt Painter is the perfect example of the student who chooses to start a second or third career and enrolls at Texas State while still employed. He finished the MBA in record time and is now a loyal and dedicated instructor in this program."

- Dr. Edna Rehbein, Director of the Round Rock Campus
