Mentor of the Year Award 2010

Texas State University Student Earned Mentor of the Year Award at Caldwell Heights

Alexandra Ekstrum is one of the students who attends classes at Texas State University Round Rock Campus, but this year, she shines with her new title, the Outstanding STARS Mentor of the Year at Caldwell Heights Elementary.

“Lexie is currently a student at Texas State University and is mentoring two students at Caldwell Heights Elementary. She has volunteered more hours than any other mentor at Caldwell Heights this year. Lexie has a genuine concern for her two mentees, is punctual, dependable, visits her mentees on a weekly basis, and has attended Saturday field trips with her mentees”, quoted a speech delieved at Round Rock ISD Appreciation Breakfast on May 20, 2010.

Texas State University has partnered with Round Rock ISD and Round Rock ISD - Partners in Education Foundation to support our neighboring elementary school, Caldwell Heights Elementary.

Round Rock ISD’s STARS (Supporting, Teaching and Reaching Students) Mentor Program is a school-based, motivational program encompassing grades K-12. Mentors are matched with a student in a one-on-one relationship and meet regularly on the school campus for 30 minutes to an hour one time per week. The meetings can often be fit into a lunch hour.
