Support the Troops Program

Support the Troops In 2008, the Texas State Round Rock Campus became part of a community project to Support the Troops in the 404th Aviation Support Battalion. This project, spearheaded by Congressman John Carter, was sponsored by the City of Round Rock and the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce. The Round Rock Campus and Frost Bank "adopted" C Company of the 404th Aviation Support Battalion. C Company is the Communications Signal Company for 404th (computer network support) and is comprised of approximately 50 soldiers.

2008-2009 We sent eight boxes filled with blankets, trail mix, candy (especially chocolate to send in the winter when chocolate wouldn’t melt!), school supplies, magazines, Girl Scout cookies, and various items from soldiers’ wish lists, and Christmas cards. We also participated in Operation Fairy Tale and collected over 50 children’s books to be sent to Fort Hood soldiers serving in Iraq. The soldiers were videotaped while reading the book and the video was burned to a DVD to be mailed to the soldier’s child along with the book so that the child can follow along. It made a wonderful gift!

2009-2010 – Even though the initial Round Rock effort was complete, the City of Round Rock continued to Support the Troops. Texas State Round Rock filled 22 boxes with books and magazines and sent them to the troops so that they could have new or new-to-them reading material!
